Like the soprano, the tenor is tuned in C, but an octave below. It has the same design as the soprano and alto, merely larger in length and diameter. Sounding a fourth below the alto it has a pleasant, soft tone. Because of its size some tenor recorders have keys that makes it easier to play C, C sharp, D and D sharp. This is mostly a necessity for children and people with small hands.
