We adjust the repair according to the needs of your flute. To give you an accurate estimate of the repair or service needed, our technicians need to inspect your flute. This is free but requires that we have the instrument at hand.

You are always welcome to visit our shop, send us an e-mail (with pictures and a description of the problem), or send us the instrument. Contact us if you need help with the shipping.

Playing condition

When a flute gets worn, the problems arising usually have to do with pads not sealing or keys bending. This will result in an instrument that is difficult to play, especially in the lower register. Often these problems can be solved with a minor adjustment of keys and/or pads.

  • Change of cork and felt where needed
  • Control and adjustment of pads and keys
  • Test played

COA - Cleaning, oiling, and adjustment

With this repair, you keep your flute in top-notch shape. We recommend to giving your instrument this type of repair once a year to postpone the main repair as long as possible.

  • Instrument is disassembled
  • Body and mechanics are cleaned and oiled
  • Cork and felt are changed where needed
  • Pads and mechanics are adjusted
  • Tuning cork is replaced
  • The flute is test played

Repad

The condensation that gathers in your flute when you play, causes a lot of wear on the pads. We usually say that a set of pads lasts between 6 and 12 years depending on the type of pad, how the flute is played, and how often. In a repad we do the following:

  • Instrument is disassembled
  • Body and mechanics are cleaned and oiled
  • Pads, cork and felt are changed
  • Up to three new springs
  • Tuning cork is replaced
  • Mechanics are adjusted
  • The flute is test played

The price can vary after which pads you want, whether you want extra springs changed or have the mechanics polished.

Overhaul

If you have a really good quality flute, an overhaul is necessary from time to time. When doing an overhaul, we completely disassemble the instrument, clean it, and bring it as close as possible to an "as new"-condition. In an overhaul a repad is included plus the following:

  • Fine adjustment of mechanics
  • Control of tone holes - any dents or disparities are evened out

Special pads from Straubinger or Lotus (MO5) from Muramatsu can be mounted.

We can also fix this:

  • Remove dents
  • Silver/gold plating
  • Relacquer
  • Solderings
  • Various re-builds and repairs
