Vandoren BD6 HD Black Diamond High Density

The BD6 HD is Vandoren's new mouthpiece with good projection and a large, round, and beautiful clarinet sound.

The Black Diamond BD6 HD is the first mouthpiece made from Vandoren's new HD ebonite, which has a higher density than the ebonite they usually use. The mouthpiece weighs a full 20 grams more than a regular BD5, so most people feel the difference in the material. Because the mouthpiece feels heavier than a regular ebonite mouthpiece it invites a well-supported playing style.

The opening is slightly larger than on the BD5, and the design of the chamber and baffle seems to have been tweaked when compared to the BD5. The Black Diamond BD6 HD has a nice finish if you compare it to Vandoren's other mouthpieces. It looks like the surface is more even and smooth with fewer post-production marks.
