Selmer AXOS Alto Sax
The goal with the AXOS is to produce a Selmer saxophone at a more affordable price. This has been made possible by skimping on the most luxurious details of the instrument, without compromising the quality. We have tested the saxophone, and can't find any big differences between the AXOS and f.ex. the Serie III. To reduce the price Selmer has outsourced the lacquering to Peugout (sounds weird, but it works the same way). The engraving is not done by hand, but laser, and certain small parts - f.ex. some of the screws - are made of stainless steel instead of brass.
Our conclusion is all in all VERY positive. Finally, it is possible to buy a genuine Selmer saxophone, made in France, at a reasonable price.
We recommend that you compare the AXOS to Yamaha's YAS-62. Both are great and similarly priced instruments, so it's a question of taste in sound, that will determine which you prefer.
Mouthpiece, ligature, and Selmer light case are included with the AXOS model.
