Description

Selmer Model 22 alto saxophone (pre-owned)

The Model 22 was developed in 1922 and was originally called the Series 1922. This model was Selmers very first model produced in their own name.  As production of the model continued during the following years, the name was changed to Model 22. A pioneering detail of the Model 22 at the time was the automatic octave mechanism that had previously consisted of two separate octave keys. The simplified octave mechanism consisting of a single key made it much easier to play fast passages without having to think about which key to choose.

Model 22 has a smaller neck bore than Selmer's later models, and was therefore given the nickname "The Pea-shooter".

Selmer's production of the Modele 22 included the entire extended saxophone family: Sopranino (Eb), Soprano (C and Bb), Alto (Eb), Tenor (C and Bb), Baritone and Bass

  • The saxophone is in playing condition
  • Mouthpiece and case are sold separately
  • Silver-plated
